Alpine iLX-W650 receiver, available at Sounds Good To Me in Tempe, Arizona

Review of the Alpine iLX-W650 receiver, available at Sounds Good To Me in Tempe, Arizona.

Alpine has a new mech-less (no CD) head unit iLX-W650 that features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.  It is a very affordable ($299.99) head unit that also has Bluetooth, 3 pre-outs (4 Volt), very shallow mount chassis (50mm) (less than 3 inches deep) with a 50 X 4 built in amplifier and very thin bezel.

Alpine seems to somehow better predict consumer preferences than most any competitors in the aftermarket head unit segment of the 12 volt universe.  I don’t know how but for one reason or another they do, and this is no exception with their iLX-W650 head unit.  This is one of the latest models bearing the “iLX” tag and carries the Alpine DNA that is legendary in car audio.

The iLX-W650 is a 7” mech-less audio/video receiver with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibilities which is the driving force in car audio replacement head units for the car.  This is a shallow mount design chassis design (50mm) so fits most any new and older vehicles that can accept a Double Din.  IT comes with a rear USB port, Sirius XM ready, 3 pre-outs (4V), Bluetooth built-in for hands free wireless for both calls and music streaming if you don’t want to plug your phone in.  It will also work with Google Assistant on Android Auto.

The ILX-W650 has the Alpine suite of sound settings 50W X 4, Bass Engine SQ, 9 Band Parametric EQ, Time correction, Media Expander and totally adjustable crossover controls. It also has 2 Camera input configuration to mention just some of the features Alpine built into this little head unit that could. This Alpine radio is packed full of the most requested and useful features that folks are looking for.

I wish it was idata Maestro compatible but maybe down the road.  It is intuitive and has no-look swipe control (volume up, volume down, skip forward, skip back and pause) 3 AMP USB charging capability.

I would suggest anyone to come in and see for yourself how nice this head unit is at Sounds Good To Me in Tempe, Arizona.
